Hello! I'm Beth and I created the Painted Fern because my heart is in these mountains I call home. There is never a moment from April to November that you won't find us loving to live right here.
At our home we live outside in our gardens or on our back porch as much a possible. Knowing that we are able to use our home's custom outdoor spaces makes us feel complete. After all, nothing beats a day at home more than being able to watch the sun come up over the tree line, cozying up to read on the porch, cooking and dining outside, or sharing this little piece of heaven with friends.

My background is not just in sharing with others how to build your perfect outdoor living spaces. I hold a degree in Economics from Davidson College and I am finishing a degree in Horticulture at Blue Ridge Community College.
